What moves an online store's price

Checkout and payments
One payment provider and a standard checkout is simple. Subscriptions, several currencies, tax rules or local payment methods each add work.
Inventory and other systems
Syncing stock, orders and customers with an ERP, warehouse or accounting tool is often the biggest single cost in a store.
Product data
Hundreds of products with variants, filters and search need careful structure. Importing them from an old store takes time too.
Customer accounts
Order history, saved addresses, wishlists and returns are screens and logic someone has to design, build and test.
Languages and markets
Each language and country adds translated content, prices, shipping rules and testing.
Product presentation
Photography is yours; 3D product viewers and configurators let shoppers inspect products and usually lift confidence in what they buy.

E-commerce cost questions

How much does an e-commerce website cost?

At our published prices, a small store costs $2,000 – $3,000 on an adapted Shopify or WooCommerce theme (Essential), $6,000 – $9,000 with original design (Custom) and $16,000 – $23,750 on Signature. A growing store with accounts and filters costs $2,250 – $3,250, $7,000 – $10,000 or $18,500 – $27,000. Adding 3D product views to a growing Custom store brings it to about $11,250 – $19,250.

Should I use Shopify or build a custom store?

Shopify-style platforms are quickest when your products and checkout are standard. A custom store makes sense when you need your own checkout logic, deep integrations, unusual products, configurators, or speed and design a theme cannot give you. Many stores do both: a custom front end on top of a commerce platform.

What does an online store cost to run each month?

Hosting is usually $25–100 a month. Commerce platforms charge their own plans, typically from about $40 a month at the time of writing, and payment providers take a fee on every sale, often around 3%. Apps and plugins add their own monthly fees.

How long does it take to build an e-commerce website?

A small store usually takes 3–4 weeks on Essential and 6–9 weeks on Custom; a growing store 7–10 weeks on Custom. Product data, photography and integrations are what most often stretch the timeline.

Does the number of products change the price?

Less than people expect. Every product uses the same product page layout, so 50 and 5,000 products cost much the same to design. What changes is importing data, filters and search, and syncing stock with other systems.

how to use it.

  1. It starts as an online store with the features most stores need. Change the design level and add or remove features.
  2. Count page layouts, not products: home, category, product, cart, checkout, account and content pages.
  3. Copy the link to compare options, or send it to us for a fixed quote within 24 hours.

what it tells you.

The range comes from our published prices for design, development and 3D, placed by your store's scope. It is an estimate, not a quote.

Running costs are paid to others: hosting, any commerce platform plan and payment fees per sale.
