Challenge

The biggest challenge was to maintain a realistic aesthetic with low-poly performance. The jungle scene, gorilla model, animations, and path-following system had to be lightweight enough for web performance, while still delivering high visual impact. Managing texture sizes, maintaining animation quality, and handling complex TypeScript typings also added to the complexity.

Solution

I modeled a custom gorilla and a stylized jungle environment in Blender, using realistic PBR textures and carefully optimized mesh topology. Animations were baked, exported as GLB files, and compressed using Draco and gltfjsx for maximum performance. The gorilla was rigged to follow a 3D path synced with user interaction. React Three Fiber handled the rendering, while the UI and navigation were custom-built with Tailwind CSS and TypeScript to ensure responsiveness and maintainability.

Results

The project delivered a highly immersive and interactive user journey. The gamified experience successfully increased course engagement and retention. Page load performance was optimized with a 60% reduction in model size, and the website received positive feedback for both its creativity and technical quality. The client was thrilled with the final product and launched it as the flagship for their FBA course.
